Afterparty - Ann Redisch Stampler

Overalls (out of five)
Characters: 5
Hook-factor: 4
Writing: 5
Emotion: 4
Recommend: 5
Goodreads Review: 3.37
My Review: 5

Characters: Characters were written well and were three-dimensional. I could sympathize with most of them *cough, cough, Siobhan*. It was easy to fall in love with the characters with the character. However, some of the decisions the protagonist made bothered me a bit, but other than that, it was great.

Hook-factor: You want to read on. You don't even know why.

Writing: Ann's writing is incredible and goals. The metaphors she uses fit the situation so well and are articulate and descriptive. Some I had to look twice at, since at times they can get a little confusing, but after I got into the book a bit more I learned to understand the metaphors.

Emotion: I got frustrated when the protagonist did and sad when she did as well. But again, like I said earlier, some of the decisions the protagonist bothered me a bit, so it affected my reaction to some of the consequences.

Recommend: Definitely recommend. I think it might not be for some people, but it also wasn't recommended for people my age and voila, I fell in love with it, but I might just be a minority.

Goodreads Review: I don't know how it got the low rating it did. When I looked at the reviews, I only saw a bunch of five/four stars and only one one-star. But then again, Goodreads Reviews can be over-picky.

My Review: Definitely recommend this book. Chapters are short (which is something I like...a lot) and it is hooking right from the beginning. A lesson I've learned from this book is not to always trust Goodreads reviews, they can be really off-the-mark.
